Two Writing Teachers named 2015 Edublogs Best Group Blog!

Two Writing Teachers, a collaborative blog co-authored by one of our co-directors, Kathleen Sokolowski, has been named as the Best Group Blog for the 2015 Edublog Awards. The Two Writing Teachers team is humbled by this award and grateful to our community of contributors and readers who care so much about the teaching of writing.

Congratulations LIWP Member Lauren Jensen, Winner of the NY Milken Educator Award!

Glen Cove High School teacher and Long Island Writing Project teacher consultant Lauren Jensen won the very prestigious Milken Educator Award on Wednesday, November 4th! After the award was posted on Facebook, Lauren's page  was full of well-wishes and congratulations from former and current students, fellow Writing Project teachers from North Virginia and Long Island, family members, and friends. Some comments included, "Shout out to Lauren Jensen for being the reason I love writing! I know you've made hundreds of other students feel the same way" and "This lovely lady, Lauren Jensen, was my 11th Grade English teacher in Springfield, VA. ‪#‎gamechanger‬
A year later, she took the time to read & edit my college essay TWICE. So happy she won $25,000."  Lauren's heart, dedication, professionalism, and love of literacy are a joy to behold and we are so incredibly proud to have her as a member and leader in our organization.  Join Lauren and the LIWP on March 5th as she presents one of her outstanding lessons on "Literary Lives: Writing Extraordinary Profiles of Ordinary People" as part of our upcoming Saturday Series.
