Two Opportunities for Teen Writers This Summer
Writing the College Admissions Essay and Narrative Writing
July 8, 2019 – July 11, 2019 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Tuition: $300.00
The Long Island Writing Project is hosting a summer writing workshop for teens. Our experienced writing teachers will guide you through the writing process as you identify topics that are important to you, read and discuss models, brainstorm, draft, revise, edit, and refine your final essays. We will work individually and in groups in a safe, relaxed, and comfortable setting.
A good college admissions essay communicates your values, beliefs, experiences, and educational goals. It enables you to provide information that will help admissions officers develop a fuller and clearer picture of your strengths and accomplishments. A good college essay can supplement and enhance the other information contained in your college applications.
Join the Long Island Writing Project this summer for a special workshop that guides teens in writing about their lives, experiences, and hopes for the future. At the end of workshop, you will have completed a solid draft of at least one of the Common Application essay choices. In addition, we will consider some of the other writing prompts colleges require and practice answering them— balancing the need for accuracy and completeness with the required word count.
